Linguæ Christi’s Virtual Student Missions for Summer 2021

We are all very excited to announce our Virtual Student Summer Missions programme for Summer 2021. There’s a lot of specific information available to you here on the website on the Short-Term Projects page. However, I’ll just give you a bit of background for this project. As most of you know, for many years we’ve had missions projects during the summer months for Christians, during their years of university studies, in order for them to participate in meeting various needs for our missionary work and ministry here on-field. We’ve been doing this a long time and we’ve had scores of people to come through these programmes, many of whom are now serving in missions or full-time ministry in local churches, even to this day!

Reshaping suffering

Over the years I’ve come to really appreciate the liturgical calendar. I grew up in a church that didn’t emphasise the seasons of liturgy, but at some point during university I began to practice its rhythms. It gave context to the holidays I absentmindedly celebrated as a child. Over the last year, it has created a sense of movement and change during a year where the rest of life feels like it’s moving in slow motion.

Ordinarily in this section, I would be giving a number of specific needs that we have for the ministry in an effort to connect God’s people with these needs on the field. These needs would be understood to fall into one of three areas: (1) Prayer, (2) People, (3) Provision. We have recently been in a time of evaluation, discernment and seeking the Lord’s guidance as to what He would have us to pursue and do in 2021 and beyond. As His direction is beginning to become clearer to us through this process, we are starting to come to the realisation that He would have us pursue some goals and initiatives that are far beyond us, requiring us to trust in Him entirely to provide what is necessary in prayer, people, and provision to see us through. I will be sharing these needs in more detail in the months to come, as we continue to discern His direction and will.

Changes to Summer 2021 Projects

Come to Wales and bring the language and people alive for others.

As you know, we have been cautiously planning to move forward with having on-field summer projects for students this year here in Wales as well as in several other European countries. I am sure that you have seen several communications from us over these past few months in these newsletters and also in our monthly prayer calendars, regarding our plans for the summer. In spite of the latest lockdown measures and even up to just a couple of weeks or so ago, we were still planning to move forward, again cautiously, with our summer plans.

God sees your faith

Jesus stories are a daily part of our life and ministry here in Wales. We earnestly believe that God transforms people as they experience Jesus through His parables, miracles and teachings. When it comes to sharing our faith with others, Jesus stories are a great way to give someone a glimpse of God’s family, a taste of what it means to be reconciled and welcomed home. But sometimes the stories surprise us on our own journeys with God.
