In the December report, I mentioned that partnership development is an important aspect of our work. The “Tour” across America that I mentioned above is my way of personally being involved in that respect through networking (connecting and reconnecting) with existing and potential partners in ministry. As I mentioned in my personal report, this “Tour” has already started with my current trip to Florida.

I often reflect on Mary’s words in the Magnificat in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Young Mary knows that God’s calling on her life to bear His son would undoubtedly come with complications and questions in her community, in her betrothal, and in the political climate of that day. Nonetheless, she is full of faith. She is, in the midst of uncertain times, giving praise for not only who God is, but for the way he has included her in his plan.

Have you ever come to a place in your life where you felt out of control? In fact, the harder that you tried to “gain control” the more chaotic things became? Not to be too philosophical, but one of my biggest fears is the unknown. I think a large reason why is because I can’t control it or plan for it, and I don’t know what expectations to have.

I’m not sure how common it is to pick a word for the year, but it’s something that I’ve started doing in recent years. Last year my word was “trust,” and considering the circumstances of 2020 I would say this word was fitting. So, with the anticipation of the new year, I began praying through what my word would be, and I landed on the Hebrew word, shema.
