I have been hinting for a few months now that we have some really strategic and even essential areas of need, when it comes to funding. The cold, hard fact of the matter is that sometimes the only difference between unreached people groups having access to the Gospel in their languages or not is dependent on just one thing in earthly terms: money. Because we operate on-field with more of a missional, organic model, there often are not that many financial needs related to the day-to-day work of evangelism and Church planting. However, the greater financial need is for those issues, which are “behind the scenes” so to speak, but are essential in enabling and developing the day-to-day work of mission on the field among these often remote language groups in Europe.

Despite a busy September with all of the house moving activities, Andy, Cam and I made a quick trip to the Basque Country and also Catalunya. Given that Daniel, Martu and Iker were leaving at the end of September and I had to be out of the house on the 15th, we made a window to make the journey down to those autonomous areas in what would most commonly be understood as Spain (a problematic understanding for many of the people with whom we serve, who are Basque and Catalan speakers, but perhaps a necessary one for you, the readers).
(more…)Serve with us in Wales, Catalunya, throughout Europe or from home
To put it bluntly and simply, we really need people to serve with us, both on-field and also remotely. I’d like to share some of our main personnel needs over the next year and beyond. This is definitely not an exhaustive list. Check out our Projects & Positions page to see a fuller list of opportunities for service both on-field and from your home. Feel free to share these with people you know. For more information on any of these opportunities, please contact us at [email protected].

Something that I have come to truly appreciate since I arrived in the Basque Country is the local culture. That includes my newly adopted home here as well as the culture of my homeland, Argentina. I especially like the art of writing, and the language and improvisation that come with it. I’ve been influenced both by the Bertsolaris in the Basque Country as well as the payadores and copleros in Argentina. Rappers from many parts of the world also inspire me with their art trying to sing about every aspect of life. Though I’m no professional, I try aim to do the same with my writing.
(more…)Invitation
This year has been filled with a lot of crazy. There have been a lot of tasks and things that I could not have planned. In the span of the last month, I have helped co-workers move, I have finished coordinating student projects for Linguae Christi (why I originally came to Wales), I went to London for a conference, and I have helped another colleague move. This has been a whirlwind to end the summer (not to mention dealing with personal and family stressors) and if I’m honest I’ve been slightly overwhelmed by all the changes and the transitions.

Cheese, Grommit. Sliced, cubed, shredded, fine shredded, cracker sized, burger sized, crumbled, blocks, sticks, store brand, value brand, name brand, jalapeno pepper jack—praise the Lord! This is the prayer of a missionary returning to the U.S.
