Slavic Media Team

This media team will tell the story of of Sorbian and Kashubian speakers in Germany and Poland through the collection of visual media resources, both still and video, while making friendships and engaging in spiritual discussions.

This team will travel through Germany and Poland visiting regions where Sorbian and Kashubian are spoken. This team will document the area, language, and people through various media resources (photography, videography, journalism, personal interviews). Raw data will then be used to develop various media resources for the sake of education and mobilising Christians around the world to be involved in the work to reach Sorbian and Kashubian speakers with the Gospel through prayer, support, and active engagement.

Good proficiency with photography and especially videography would be very helpful for this assignment. This is a very independent project. Those who require a great deal of direct supervision or instruction should not consider this assignment.

Serbsce Discovery Team

This team will be focusing on Sorbian speakers in Lusatia in eastern Germany. This is a very independent project. Those who require a great deal of direct supervision or instruction should not consider this assignment.

Linguæ Christi has embraced the calling of addressing the spiritual needs of speakers of ALL the indigenous, minority languages in the European/Eurasian context (from Portugal in the West to Siberia in the East). Much as we have done among speakers of Celtic languages for the past 20 years, we intend to begin new work with other European minority languages groups. Over the next 2–5 years specifically, it is our desire to open new work in at least two to three new areas. To begin this work, we want to send some specialised teams of students to do some initial exploring in those areas and among those languages groups.

Language

As the trade language in Lusatia is German, it would be very helpful and advisable if interested students (1) already possessed some good proficiency in German before arrival (level A2 or higher), or (2) would be willing to commit to go through our “crash-course” (free and by distance learning) in German before arrival on field. Some knowledge of Slavic languages, especially Polish, Czech or Slovak, could also be helpful. No knowledge of Sorbian is required or expected before arrival, as an intensive introduction to Sorbian will be offered as part of the initial, on-field orientation.
